Russia (4)

I thought this might be a little bit too cruel to show, but after Renilde's comment I couldn't resist. The pictures of the vegetables reminded her of old sixties and seventies cooking books, with stylish pictures of vegetables and pork heads. So now this picture from the same market completes the association. (I took this picture mainly because of the colour combination and because it reminded me of this painting)

I think my love for markets began right there. The vegetables looked so different from the way they are displayed in the Netherlands and the colours were more bright. The market was in a really old building, the contrast made it even more beautiful.

a market in Saint Petersburg

In 2001 I was studying at the Rietveld Academy. Iris Eichenberg (at that moment head of the Jewelry department) was asked to give a workshop in Lappeenranta (Finland). She asked me and another student, Maaike to join her. It was an amazing trip. It was great to be in Finland and we also made a trip to Saint Petersburg. The pictures of the house and man I took during our car ride to Saint Petersburg.

paper chains (2)

These are the other paper necklaces I made recently.

unfinished pieces

In the last years I made many sketches in different materials. Most of these I wanted to use in jewelry. I like to display everything on a table and then start making new combinations, sometimes it works and sometimes not. Recently I have been working with ceramics and did not use any of these old sketches. I thought it would be nice to show my unfinished pieces once in a while, for me it would a good archive.

paper chain

These paperchains can be worn as necklaces. Today I made some more in different colour combinations, will show those another time. It's so rainy outside, I can't take good pictures now.

Next month my work (and from other artists as well) will be for sale at the exhibition Kerst&Carry at Corrosia in Almere. The opening is this Saturday, exhibiton will run until 24 December. I'm very curious to see work from the other contestants, Corrosia made a nice selection.

Francois et Catherine

Unfortunately I missed the presentation from Femke and Eddy at Francois et Catherine in Amsterdam. But I did find this notebook, I love the colours and the not so perfect pattern.

Kreativ Blogger Award

I was very happy to read that Femke from Hééérlijk! gave me this award. Thank you, I feel honoured! Together with her soon to be husband Eddy, Femke has a wonderful food company. I admire their enthusiasm and energy.
As I accept this award, I must list 7 things I love and then pass this award along to 7 other well deserving and kreativ bloggers and leave a message on their blogs to let them know they are awarded.
Things I love:
1. our tiny house and our lovely neighbours
2. hearing my boyfriend laugh about something funny
3. trying out new recipes, I love to cook, but there is still a lot to improve. (somehow my favourite food: desserts, are always a disaster)
4. looking at wonderful flowers in stunning colours
5. cycling in autumn, when leaves are circling around you
6. to surround myself with beautiful textile, paper, stationary as inspiration for my work
7. to be in the studio I share with Bonne. I'm so happy she asked me a year ago to share this space with her. It helped me so much with creating new jewelry.
7 Kreativ Blogs that I would like to award and I think some of them have been receiving this award before..
for making beautiful work and having a wonderful webshop
I love her jewerly pieces and she has a lovely new born son
her blog has a beautiful lay-out and the work she shows is very inspirational.
and have a look at her own very delicate work.
Sophie just started blogging, I like to read her observations about art
I love looking at her photographs and she makes stunning drawings. (have a look at her shop)
Hiki has a great webshop (and webshop blog) as well. I'm totally hooked. I recently bought many beautiful items, they make great gifts as well.
I discovered their shop last year, when I visited Antwerp with my boyfriend. I liked everything. The products they sell and also the interior. I go back each time I visit Antwerp.
Hope you like being awarded!

Last Saturday Sophie gave a housewarming party. She has found a beautiful appartment in Rotterdam. On the ground floor she will have her studio and on the first floor are her living room and bedroom.
It was a really nice party. And we were very lucky to be treated to a delicious meringue pie made by her mother.
On the pictures you can see a lamp from Bertjan Pot and ceramics from Mara. She also made the beautiful drawing of a house.

Sharon Montrose makes beautiful photographs of animals. Yesterday I ordered three small editions of her work on her Etsy shop. Her large and limited prints are available at http://www.theanimalprintshop.com/. And you can follow her blog http://www.sharonmontrose.blogspot.com/.
