Russia (4)

I thought this might be a little bit too cruel to show, but after Renilde's comment I couldn't resist. The pictures of the vegetables reminded her of old sixties and seventies cooking books, with stylish pictures of vegetables and pork heads. So now this picture from the same market completes the association. (I took this picture mainly because of the colour combination and because it reminded me of this painting)

I think my love for markets began right there. The vegetables looked so different from the way they are displayed in the Netherlands and the colours were more bright. The market was in a really old building, the contrast made it even more beautiful.

a market in Saint Petersburg

Russia

In 2001 I was studying at the Rietveld Academy. Iris Eichenberg (at that moment head of the Jewelry department) was asked to give a workshop in Lappeenranta (Finland). She asked me and another student, Maaike to join her. It was an amazing trip. It was great to be in Finland and we also made a trip to Saint Petersburg. The pictures of the house and man I took during our car ride to Saint Petersburg.

paper chains (2)

These are the other paper necklaces I made recently.

unfinished pieces

In the last years I made many sketches in different materials. Most of these I wanted to use in jewelry. I like to display everything on a table and then start making new combinations, sometimes it works and sometimes not. Recently I have been working with ceramics and did not use any of these old sketches. I thought it would be nice to show my unfinished pieces once in a while, for me it would a good archive.

paper chain

These paperchains can be worn as necklaces. Today I made some more in different colour combinations, will show those another time. It's so rainy outside, I can't take good pictures now.

Corrosia!

Next month my work (and from other artists as well) will be for sale at the exhibition Kerst&Carry at Corrosia in Almere. The opening is this Saturday, exhibiton will run until 24 December. I'm very curious to see work from the other contestants, Corrosia made a nice selection.

Francois et Catherine

Unfortunately I missed the presentation from Femke and Eddy at Francois et Catherine in Amsterdam. But I did find this notebook, I love the colours and the not so perfect pattern.

sophie

Last Saturday Sophie gave a housewarming party. She has found a beautiful appartment in Rotterdam. On the ground floor she will have her studio and on the first floor are her living room and bedroom.
It was a really nice party. And we were very lucky to be treated to a delicious meringue pie made by her mother.
On the pictures you can see a lamp from Bertjan Pot and ceramics from Mara. She also made the beautiful drawing of a house.
